The VTCT Level 3 NVQ in Beauty Therapy – Massage Route is a substantial vocational qualification for junior therapists seeking advanced training in massage therapy treatments for the face and body. It is a natural progression from level 2 and you would be an extremely well qualified therapist highly sought after in employment. This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional bodies (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
The following modules will be covered in the course:
This unit continues your training in Health and Safety and ensures the correct procedures for carrying out risk assessments within the working environment.
In this unit you will cover promotions and promotional activities to boost retail sales and revenue within the workplace.
-Anatomy & Physiology
Covering all the major systems of the human body: Skeletal, Muscular, Digestive, Urinary, Endocrine, Lymphatic, Nervous, Cardiovascular and Respiratory.
You will be taught how to provide a deep-tissue Swedish body massage using different mediums and how to adapt your techniques to suit different individuals. Within this unit you will cover the appropriate usage of G5, Audio Sonic and Infra Red mechanical treatments.
-Pre-Blended Aromatherapy Massage
A full, in-depth Aromatherapy study with a specific massage routine. You will learn about the sourcing, extraction, distillation, properties and benefits of essential oils, and how to blend them to meet your clients’ needs. This module requires case studies to be performed at home.
-Indian Head Massage
This unit covers a variety of Indian massage movements. The Indian Head Massage works on the energy of chakras and is a great way of relieving stress and its effects on the systems of the body. Tension is relieved through relaxation of the muscles, and improved circulation to the brain helps to clear the mind and improve hair and scalp conditions. During this unit you will learn how to perform, adapt and give after care advice for Indian Massage.
-Stone Therapy Massage
This unit is a unique massage using the hot stone technique which enables a deeper more penetrative massage. It has become very popular over recent years in health farms, spas and salon. Excellent for relaxation, deep tissue massage with the added advantage of heat therapy.

The course will consist of 12 practical days within the training school, plus home-study, including written and practical coursework; making this an ideal route for those who wish to study flexibly around other commitments. Students will need access to a laptop or computer to complete coursework and online exams.
You will be required to complete case studies for each unit, a selection of assignments and activities before you sit the examinations at the conclusion of each unit.
Assessment days will be arranged once all training and coursework has been completed.

A Level 2 in Beauty Therapy is compulsory (if you do not have this qualification please click here). A good general education is essential for this demanding course.
An excellent level of English is required. You must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently. You may be asked to sit an entry test.
